The award was accepted by Madill’s husband and son (in photo, right and left, respectively) alongside past-president Doug Wickers (in photo, centre), marking a poignant moment celebrating a life dedicated to the service of others. 

Though Madill passed away in November 2023, her legacy is stitched into the very fabric of Chilliwack’s health-care community. She was one of the leading proponents of the recently opened community maternity clinic at Chilliwack General Hospital, a vision that began a decade ago. As a dedicated prenatal physician, she recognized the critical need for a modern, consolidated space to support local families, and the clinic now stands as a monument to her determination. 

She served as physician lead and board deputy lead at the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice, and medical director at Chilliwack General Hospital.  

Madill was a relentless champion for systemic improvements. She famously believed and was quoted saying, “If you have an opinion, especially about change, you must be ready to put your energy to work and contribute.” 

Her energy did exactly that, shaping the trajectory of local care. She was instrumental in creating the Chilliwack Youth Health Centre, bringing together more than 10 community organizations to build a low-barrier, free and confidential drop-in space that now supports thousands of local youth every year.  

Throughout her 35-year career, Madill treated patients from prenatal to palliative care, always keeping the most vulnerable populations at the centre of her practice.
