I moved to British Columbia from Alberta after a friend introduced me to the health director at Seabird Island. Once I arrived, the community welcomed me in a way I had not expected. Over time at division meetings, colleagues would come up and greet me by name even though I did not know them. That simple kindness made a big difference. I remember thinking, I belong here.
